Working online, as most of us know, is working remotely from your client's or company's office. That makes "connection" as the most important word for every online worker. And when you hear the word "connection" two things automatically come into your minds; computer and internet.
1. COMPUTER
If you have a desktop or a laptop that has atleast 2GB RAM and dual core processor then you should be aware of microsoft applications. Owning a desktop or laptop doesn't qualify you for an online job. You should know the basics on using the equipment and its programs. Some jobs would require more complex technical requirement. It is also advisable to have your personal PC or gaming PC separated from your work desktop to ensure security of information and distraction, of course.
2. INTERNET CONNECTION
You should have a wired or DSL internet connection that runs for atleast 2mpbs. Pocket wifis and broadband connections (these can be used as back up internet connection if the main provider is having problems) are usually denied on the application process. Internet connection problem is the main reason online workers are getting fired from their jobs and we don't want that to happen. Just bear in mind that you are working for a business and this business pays you. What do you think will happen if you get disconnected every 30mins?
Most of the employers ask for speedtest result to check your internet speed and even if they don't ask, it is a big PLUS on your profile. Check your speedtest result here.
3. QUIET WORKSPACE
This is recommended for everyone not just for those who make and take in calls. Avoiding distractions and increasing productivity is the reason why every worker needs a quiet working space. If you have a spare room in your house or a space where you can work without any forms of distraction and without disturbing other people in your home, then you should utilize that. Most employers prefer online workers who have a special place for work because this gives them the impression that you have the passion and sincerity to get every job done.
These are just the basic requirements that you need to start working at home. Other requirements such as skills, experience, softwares and portfolios may be needed depending on the nature of work and the client that you will be working for.
